Tanvir Ahmed Voices Concerns Over Sahibzada Farhan’s Exclusion

Former Pakistani fast bowler Tanvir Ahmed has openly criticized the national selection committee for consistently overlooking Sahibzada Farhan, despite his strong showings in both domestic cricket and the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

In a statement made on his YouTube channel, Ahmed lauded Farhan’s recent form, remarking on his exceptional performance. He highlighted Farhan’s three centuries in domestic cricket, including a triple century, alongside his initial PSL century, emphasizing his consistent and impressive touch.

Ahmed directly addressed the national selectors, accusing them of unfairly labeling players to justify their exclusion from the team.

“If a player isn’t to your liking, that’s acceptable, but avoid fabricating reasons, such as claiming he has attitude issues, is late for training, or doesn’t train adequately,” he stated.

“Questioning a player’s attitude becomes the justification when selectors cannot drop a player based purely on performance; this is a long-standing problem within our cricket culture,” he added.

The former pacer implored the selectors to put aside any personal biases and provide Farhan with a fair opportunity to demonstrate his abilities.

“Even if there’s a dislike, it’s important to set it aside. Choose him for the national squad and allow him the chance to prove his worth,” he urged.

“Farhan is demonstrating excellence domestically, with strong starts and effective performance under pressure.”

Ahmed also turned his attention to Shadab Khan, accusing him of deceiving supporters by showcasing his all-round capabilities exclusively in league cricket.

The former cricketer expressed his dissatisfaction with Shadab’s repeated failures on the international stage.

“Shadab misleads everyone by batting at No. 4 in the PSL, hitting some sixes, and securing a few wickets,” he commented.

“He promotes himself as a leading spin-bowling all-rounder globally, but he consistently falls short and is exposed in international cricket.

“His successes in franchise leagues do not translate when representing Pakistan. His PSL achievements don’t lead to success on the national stage,” he concluded. Farhan has accumulated 184 runs in three PSL matches, including a century to date.
