Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed relevant authorities to ensure a level playing field for local industries by incorporating proposals from industrial and trade bodies into the forthcoming federal budget. This initiative aims to bolster Pakistan’s export sector and stimulate economic growth.

During a review meeting on the Export Facilitation Scheme (EFS), the Prime Minister emphasized the government’s priority to enhance exports as a means to increase national revenue. He instructed the committee overseeing the EFS to consult with industry experts to refine interim recommendations, focusing on facilitating the import of raw materials and machinery essential for export-oriented industries. The committee has been tasked with finalizing its proposals promptly to inform the upcoming budget.

This directive aligns with the government’s broader economic reform agenda, which includes measures such as reducing electricity tariffs for industrial consumers by Rs7.59 per unit to lower production costs and enhance competitiveness.

By fostering an equitable industrial environment and actively engaging stakeholders, the government aims to strengthen Pakistan’s manufacturing base and drive sustainable economic development.
