Mari Energies Limited has announced its fourth significant hydrocarbon discovery at the Spinwam-1 exploratory well, located in the Waziristan Block of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). This latest find is in the Lockhart Formation, following previous discoveries in the Samanasuk, Kawagarh, and Hangu formations.
Details of the Discovery:
- Formation: Lockhart Formation
- Location: Spinwam-1 exploratory well, Waziristan Block, North Waziristan District, KP
- Operator: Mari Energies Limited (55% working interest)
- Joint Venture Partners: Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) – 35% working interest; Orient Petroleum Inc. – 10% working interest
Previous Discoveries at Spinwam-1 Well:
- Samanasuk Formation: Gas flow rate of 12.96 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) and approximately 20 barrels per day (bbl/d) of condensate.
- Kawagarh Formation: Gas and condensate discovery announced on March 17, 2025.
- Hangu Formation: Third discovery announced on April 3, 2025, with a gas flow rate of 23.85 MMSCFD and approximately 122 bbl/d of condensate.
The Spinwam-1 well was spudded on May 28, 2024, and drilled to a total depth of 4,400 meters. Well-testing across all target formations has been completed, and further evaluations are underway to fully assess the well’s potential.
These discoveries significantly enhance Pakistan’s energy prospects, contributing to national energy security and the socio-economic development of the region.
