Balochistan’s Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti announced Wednesday the apprehension of a female suicide bomber in Khuzdar. Security forces, guided by crucial human intelligence, intercepted the individual. The plot aimed to inflict significant harm on innocent civilians. Bugti highlighted that this intervention prevented a major act of terror.
The arrested woman, identified as Laiba, was allegedly being manipulated by extremist organizations. Bugti expressed deep concern over the exploitation of women by terrorist factions operating in the region. He specifically thanked the public for providing the vital intelligence that led to the successful operation. The chief minister emphasized that this arrest averted substantial destruction and loss of life.
Bugti addressed the press alongside the alleged bomber, stating, “I am proud of the security forces, security agencies, police, and army.” He lamented the radicalization of young individuals, particularly women, for nefarious purposes. The chief minister noted a positive shift in public awareness. Baloch citizens are increasingly cooperating with authorities, a trend he described as a “rare occurrence” previously.
The chief minister affirmed the state’s commitment to respecting women’s dignity. However, he explained that security imperatives sometimes necessitate thorough checks, even for female occupants of vehicles. Bugti warned that such exploitation pushes the populace towards an “endless war.” He stated that this path leads only to further bloodshed and achieves no positive outcome.
The arrested woman will undergo interrogation with female police officers present. Bugti assured that her well-being would be protected, free from any harm or mistreatment. He contrasted the state’s humane approach with the terrorists’ methods. Bugti revealed that over a thousand hardcore terrorists have been neutralized in the past year. Extremist groups, he added, utilize online platforms and organizations to recruit and indoctrinate vulnerable youth against the state.
