Karachi is experiencing severe traffic congestion on II Chundrigar Road following the closure of major city routes for security purposes. These closures are a result of recent protests related to the assassination of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Roads including MT Khan Road and Mai Kolachi Road have been completely shut down, leading to significant delays on adjacent streets. The section from MT Khan Road to PIDC Road, and up to the Mai Kolachi Road railway crossing, is also closed. This disruption has caused traffic from Tower to be rerouted to II Chundrigar Road, and traffic from PIDC is being diverted towards Shaheen Complex. Traffic police have acknowledged the substantial congestion, especially on the route from Tower to PIDC, making commutes difficult. Traffic officials are on-site to manage the situation, and the public is advised to seek alternate routes around Tower and PIDC to minimize travel time. The city has faced widespread traffic disruptions and road closures since Sunday, coinciding with protests against alleged US-Israel attacks on Iran. Earlier protests in Karachi resulted in casualties, with at least 10 people killed by gunshot wounds and several others injured.
