Islamabad International Airport has achieved a significant milestone by becoming Pakistan’s first fully cashless airport. This move represents a major stride in digital transformation and aims to enhance passenger convenience.

Under the new system, all transactions at the airport, including airline ticketing, car parking, food and beverage outlets, retail shops, and duty-free stores, will now be conducted exclusively through digital platforms. Passengers have a variety of payment options available, such as digital wallets, QR codes, mobile banking, and credit/debit cards.

Airport authorities state that this initiative is designed to boost transparency, efficiency, and overall ease for travelers. The implementation of this digital payment system follows the federal government’s recent announcement to include Islamabad International Airport in its active privatization program.

In addition to cashless payments, a modern mobile application has been launched. This app allows passengers to track lost luggage from anywhere globally. Airport officials believe that both the digital payment system and the baggage tracking facility will not only improve the passenger experience but also elevate the airport’s international standing.

This development is considered a significant step in modernizing airport services, aligning with broader efforts to privatize major airports in Pakistan.
