COAS Stresses Enhanced Pakistan-Egypt Cooperation for Regional Stability
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir stated that increased collaboration between Pakistan and Egypt would not only enhance their bilateral relations but also play a significant role in fostering regional peace and stability.
The field marshal made these comments during his official trip to Egypt, which aimed to strengthen military cooperation and defense partnerships between the two nations, according to a statement from Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
During his stay, the COAS met with Egyptian Minister of Defence General Abdul Maged Saqar, as well as the Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa Fatehi.
“Discussions centered on matters of regional security, shared interests, and opportunities to deepen defense collaboration,” the military’s media wing conveyed.
COAS Munir received a warm welcome at the Ministry of Defence, where he was honored with a Guard of Honour. He also paid tribute by laying a floral wreath at the Memorial of the Unknown Soldier and at the grave of former Egyptian President Mohamed Anwar Al Sadat.
Subsequently, Field Marshal Munir engaged with Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Sheikh Ahmed El Tayeb at Mashaikhat Al Azhar Al Sharif.
The Grand Imam articulated his insights on the challenges confronting the Muslim Ummah, while the COAS underscored the importance of eliminating extremist ideologies and skewed interpretations of Islam.
