Parker Calls Out Itauma for December Bout
Former WBO world titleholder Joseph Parker has challenged Moses Itauma, stating his willingness to face the emerging British talent on December 13, contingent on a successful outcome against Fabio Wardley on October 25.
Parker is slated to battle the undefeated Wardley (19-0-1, 18 KOs) at London’s O2 Arena.
Following four consecutive triumphs in 2024, Parker’s activity has since decreased. The forthcoming Wardley fight marks only his second appearance in the last 18 months, the prior being a victory over Martin Bakole earlier in the year.
The 33-year-old conveyed that, provided he emerges victorious on October 25, he will be prepared for a December 13th match against Itauma.
“Competing annually is insufficient,” Parker stated.
“My aim is to fight frequently. If the Wardley fight concludes favorably on October 25, I want to return to the ring before year’s end.
“[Itauma] represents another contest I’d welcome. I’m open to any challenge. I’m not interested in carefully selecting opponents or taking my time in this sport.
“I’m ready for any fight available.”
Itauma, boasting a 13-0 record with 11 knockouts, is scheduled to headline Queensberry’s December 13 event at the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester.
However, promoter Frank Warren has faced difficulties in securing a formidable opponent for the 20-year-old boxing prospect.
In a recent interview with The Ring, Warren mentioned the high financial demands from potential opponents to face Itauma.
According to the report from The Ring, both Michael Hunter and David Adeleye are leading contenders to challenge Itauma, with Parker also expressing interest in joining the list of potential rivals.
