Manchester United Appoints Ameesh Manek as Director of Football Operations
Manchester United has announced the appointment of Ameesh Manek, previously the chief operating officer at Brentford, as their new director of football operations. The confirmation came earlier this week.
Manek is set to take over from Nick Cox, who left his position in June to become the technical director at Everton, after dedicating eight years to United.
In his capacity as director of football operations, Manek will be in charge of overseeing various critical aspects, including travel logistics, security protocols, training facility management, staffing, and overall infrastructure. This move is part of Manchester United’s broader strategy to enhance its day-to-day management framework.
He initially joined Brentford as the director of business operations, subsequently earning a promotion to chief operating officer in July 2024.
While his role at Brentford primarily revolved around administrative duties, his responsibilities at United are anticipated to encompass a wider array of football-related functions, catering to both the men’s and women’s teams.
The addition of Manek signifies the latest enhancement to United’s expanding leadership structure.
In related news, United recently engaged in extensive negotiations for the transfer of Bryan Mbeumo, following the forward’s impressive performance last season.
United’s widely discussed pursuit of Mbeumo culminated in the acquisition of the Cameroonian winger for £1.71 million.
However, his initial return to Brentford proved disappointing, as United suffered a 3-1 defeat in London approximately two weeks ago.
Furthermore, Brentford has experienced substantial changes this season.
Besides Mbeumo, captain Christian Norgaard has moved to Arsenal, while Yoane Wissa completed a transfer to Newcastle on the deadline day.
Recently, United has made several crucial executive appointments, including the addition of Stephen Torpey, also formerly of Brentford, as the new academy director.
