Karachi Blues Dominate as Rain Disrupts Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Matches

ISLAMABAD: In the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy (QEAT), Karachi Blues seized a strong position against Faisalabad, propelled by centuries from Haroon Arshad and Danish Aziz. The second day of the Sialkot-Peshawar match was completely abandoned due to inclement weather.

Following a complete washout of the first day across all venues due to persistent rainfall, Karachi Blues opted to bat after winning the toss at the Marghzar Cricket Ground. This decision proved fruitful as they concluded the day with a score of 346/5 in 81.3 overs, largely due to the contributions of Haroon and Danish.

The innings began turbulently, with opener Saad Baig being run out with only nine runs scored. However, Saim Ayub provided stability, scoring a swift 63 off 89 balls, including 11 boundaries.

Despite Ayub’s efforts, Karachi Blues were struggling at 129/4 before Haroon and Danish initiated a remarkable recovery.

The pair combined for a partnership of 192 runs for the fifth wicket, before Haroon was dismissed by Atiq-ur-Rehman. The right-handed batter made 101 from 157 balls, hitting 13 fours on his first-class debut.

Danish remained unbeaten with 116 off 153 balls, hitting 17 boundaries and three sixes. He will continue the innings with wicketkeeper Muhammad Ghazi Ghori, who is 14 not out.

Atiq, Ahmed Safi Abdullah, Faham-ul-Haq, and Shehzad Gul each secured a wicket for Faisalabad.

At the Diamond Cricket Ground, only 36 overs were possible between FATA and Multan. FATA reached 71/2, with Haseebullah (29 not out) and Mohammad Wasim Khan (14 not out) at the crease. Kasif Ali and Ali Usman each claimed a wicket for Multan.

The match between Islamabad and Lahore Whites at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium saw only 28.2 overs played, with Islamabad at 91/1. Shamyl Hussain remained unbeaten on 46. Aamir Jamal took the only wicket to fall, while Rizwan Ali was 18 not out at the close.

At the Abbottabad Cricket Stadium, Bahawalpur reached 76/2 in 21.3 overs against Abbottabad. Mohammad Ammar was unbeaten on 30. Israr Hussain and Mohammad Adil each took a wicket for Abbottabad.

The match between Sialkot and Peshawar at the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium was suspended for the second consecutive day due to rain.
