Aspinall to Defend Heavyweight Title Against Gane at UFC 321
Tom Aspinall is slated to defend his heavyweight title against Ciryl Gane at UFC 321 on October 25. Alex Pereira has suggested that Ciryl Gane presents a unique challenge compared to Aspinall’s previous adversaries.
The undisputed heavyweight champion, Aspinall, is preparing for his first title defense against Gane of France at UFC 321 in Abu Dhabi on October 25. This fight marks Aspinall’s return to the Octagon after a 14-month hiatus. For Gane, this represents his third attempt at the UFC heavyweight title, following unsuccessful bids against Francis Ngannou and Jon Jones.
Pereira anticipates a stronger performance from Gane against Aspinall this time, asserting that his elusive fighting style will make it challenging for the British MMA fighter to secure a knockout.
Pereira noted that Aspinall’s previous knockout victories were against fighters unlike Gane, whose constant movement will make him a difficult target. He also suggested that Gane’s style could extend the fight into the later rounds.
“It’s a challenging fight,” Pereira stated through a translator.
“Tom is a well-rounded fighter, but it seems he has primarily faced aggressive opponents. Gane, however, is likely to employ a lot of movement and caution, potentially frustrating Tom. If Tom struggles to find Ciryl Gane in the early rounds, the fight could unfold differently.”
Tom Aspinall has established himself as a formidable force in the UFC, with several first-round knockouts to his name. His last three opponents, Curtis Blaydes, Sergei Pavlovich, and Marcin Tybura, lasted a mere 3 minutes and 22 seconds combined in the Octagon.
