Nepal Secures T20I Series Victory Against West Indies
SHARJAH: In a remarkable achievement, the Nepal men’s cricket team defeated the West Indies by 90 runs in the second T20I match held at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. This victory grants Nepal an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series, marking their first series win against the West Indies.
This triumph also signifies Nepal’s inaugural victory against a full member of the International Cricket Council (ICC), adding a historic chapter to their cricketing journey.

Key Performances
Nepal’s captain, Rohit Paudel’s choice to bat first in the second T20I proved strategic. The team achieved a total of 173/6 in 20 overs, propelled by impressive half-centuries from Aasif Sheikh and Sundeep Jora.
- Aasif Sheikh led the scoring with an undefeated 68 from 47 balls, including eight boundaries and a couple of sixes.
- Sundeep Jora contributed a rapid 63 from 39 deliveries, hitting five sixes and three fours.
Aasif Sheikh was named Player of the Match for his steadying innings.
The dynamic duo also forged a crucial 100-run partnership for the fourth wicket, rescuing Nepal from an initial setback at 43/3 in 6.4 overs.
From the West Indies’ side, Kyle Mayers and captain Akeal Hosein each claimed a pair of wickets, with Jediah Blades taking one.
West Indies’ Response
Facing a challenging target of 174 runs, the West Indies’ batting lineup struggled, ultimately being bowled out for just 83 runs in 17.1 overs. Mohammad Aadil Alam was instrumental, taking four wickets.
Jason Holder, the seasoned all-rounder, scored the most for West Indies with 21 off 15 balls. Ackeem Auguste (17) and Amir Jangoo (16) were the only other batsmen to reach double digits.
Aadil secured four wickets conceding 24 runs in his spell, while Kushal Bhurtel claimed three for 16. Lalit Rajbanshi, Dipendra Singh Airee, and Karan KC each took a single wicket.
With Nepal securing the series, the final match is set to take place at the same venue on Tuesday.
