ANF Executes Major Drug Trafficking Crackdown Across Pakistan
In a bold move to combat drug trafficking, Pakistan’s Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has executed a series of coordinated operations nationwide, resulting in the arrest of eight suspects and the seizure of 239 kilograms of narcotics. The estimated street value of the confiscated drugs exceeds PKR 4.22 crore, marking a significant victory in the country’s ongoing war against illegal substances.
Targeting Drug Supply Near Educational Institutions
One of the most alarming discoveries came from Haripur, where ANF agents intercepted a suspect near a university on Hattar Road. The individual was found in possession of 400 grams of hashish and confessed to supplying drugs to students. This incident underscores the growing concern over narcotics infiltrating academic environments and endangering youth.
Major Seizures in Urban Centers
The crackdown extended to several major cities, each yielding substantial drug recoveries:
- Peshawar (GT Road): Authorities confiscated 46.8 kilograms of opium, 26.4 kilograms of hashish, 2 kilograms of crystal meth (ice), and 1 kilogram of heroin from a vehicle. One suspect was taken into custody.
- Islamabad (Golra Turn): A vehicle search led to the seizure of 7.2 kilograms of hashish and the arrest of three individuals.
- Islamabad (Faizabad): ANF recovered 2.4 kilograms of hashish from a single suspect.
- Lahore (Niazi Terminal): A motorcyclist was caught with 13.2 kilograms of hashish and 2.4 kilograms of ice.
- Sheikhupura (Green Valley): Officers seized 13.2 kilograms of opium, 3.6 kilograms of hashish, 280 grams of ice, and 1 kilogram of heroin from another motorcyclist.
Hidden Drug Storage Uncovered in Chagai
In a remote operation in Chagai’s Nokandi region, ANF discovered a hidden land storage site containing a staggering 120 kilograms of opium. This find highlights the evolving tactics of traffickers who are increasingly turning to concealed rural caches to evade detection.
Legal Action and Ongoing Investigations
All cases have been registered under the Control of Narcotic Substances (CNS) Act. The ANF has confirmed that investigations are ongoing and emphasized its unwavering commitment to dismantling drug networks and protecting communities—especially vulnerable populations like students.
A Message of Vigilance and Resolve
This nationwide crackdown sends a clear message: Pakistan’s anti-narcotics authorities are intensifying their efforts to root out drug trafficking. With operations spanning urban centers and remote regions, the ANF continues to demonstrate its resolve in safeguarding public health and security.
