Kane Reacts to Levy’s Departure from Tottenham
Following Daniel Levy’s decision to resign from his position at Tottenham on September 4, 2025, after almost a quarter-century with the team, Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane conveyed his astonishment. However, he recognized the Englishman’s revolutionary influence on the organization.
After failing to secure the first English Premier League title for Spurs since 1961, Levy chose to leave the club on September 4, leaving behind a legacy that includes a modern stadium, a cutting-edge training facility, and a role in their first significant trophy since 2008, which was their Europa League victory last season.
Kane, who moved to Bundesliga club Bayern Munich in August 2023, admitted he was taken by surprise.
He lauded Levy’s contributions, calling him a superb chairman who played a significant role in Tottenham Hotspur’s transformation.
“I didn’t foresee it, I didn’t anticipate it,” Kane remarked before Tuesday’s World Cup qualifier in Serbia.
“Daniel has served as Tottenham’s excellent chairman for about 20 years.
“Considering the club’s former and current state, I believe there has been substantial progress, not only on the field but also off it.
“Overall, Tottenham is entering a new phase that they are attempting to establish now.”
Levy’s departure has fueled rumors of a potential ownership change; however, the club’s main shareholder believes it is unlikely and has stated that the Spurs are not for sale.
Meanwhile, Spurs CEO Vinai Venkatesham recognized Levy’s contributions and downplayed the possibility of considerable upheaval following his departure.
“The club is well-prepared for succession, with a highly capable executive team in place, and while it may seem strange to say this to the outside world, despite the major news, operations within the club remain largely unchanged,” he stated on the club’s website on Monday.
