PAC Sub-Committee Examines Finance Division Audit Reports

ISLAMABAD: A session of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC)’s sub-committee took place, presided over by Shahida Akhtar Ali.

The committee analyzed the Finance Division’s audit reports from the fiscal years 2010-11 and 2013-14.

Discussions centered on the improper allowance disbursement to the former Director General (DG) of the Central Directorate of National Savings (CDNS).

According to the audit details, the ex-DG of CDNS benefited from a housing rent allowance spanning from November 2007 to June 2013.

The Finance Secretary acknowledged, stating, “Indeed, he was both provided with housing and compensated with a housing rent allowance simultaneously.”

The Finance Secretary further commented, “We have mandated that restitution be obtained from him.” He then clarified, “He previously worked for the State Bank, and a portion of his funds remains there.”

“We intend to solicit the State Bank’s support in recovering these funds,” the Finance Secretary added. Shahida Akhtar Ali remarked, “Had timely measures been implemented, the present predicament might have been averted.”
