Anisimova Advances to US Open Quarter-Finals

NEW YORK: Under the bright lights of Arthur Ashe Stadium, Amanda Anisimova delivered a stellar performance, defeating Brazil’s Beatriz Haddad Maia with a score of 6-0, 6-3. This victory propels her into a US Open quarter-final showdown against World No. 2, Iga Swiatek.

The American athlete asserted control early, clinching the first set in under half an hour. She achieved this by breaking Haddad Maia’s serve, who is seeded 18th, on three separate occasions.

Her strong play persisted into the subsequent set, where she broke serve in the very first game.

Despite a few unforced errors that allowed the Brazilian player to respond with a break of her own, Anisimova regained her composure. She defended against two break points and secured the match with a conclusive break.

The 24-year-old voiced her anticipation for the upcoming match against Swiatek, viewing it as an opportunity for payback after her defeat by the Polish player in the Wimbledon final this past July, where she lost 6-0, 6-0.

“Who would’ve predicted we’d be facing each other again so quickly?” commented Anisimova, who is seeded eighth. “I’m incredibly excited. It’s shaping up to be a fantastic match… I’m hoping, at least.”

Anisimova also spoke about her experience playing at Arthur Ashe Stadium, which she considers one of her favorite venues.

“It’s wonderful to be back here. It’s been quite a while since I last played on this court,” she stated. “I thrive on the energy of big stages. I’m simply enjoying the moment.”
