Knight Riders Secure Victory Over Royals in CPL Clash

TAROUBA: In a Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025 match held in Tarouba on Friday, Trinbago Knight Riders defeated Barbados Royals by seven wickets. Colin Munro’s dynamic half-century and captain Nicholas Pooran’s explosive batting were instrumental in the win.

After losing the toss and being put in to bat, the Royals managed a total of 178/6 in their allotted 20 overs. Sherfane Rutherford was the highest scorer with a swift 45 off 22 balls, which included four sixes and three fours.

Kyle Mayers added 41 runs from 37 balls, while Rovman Powell contributed a quickfire 31 off 15 balls towards the end of the innings. Brandon King (29) and Quinton de Kock (17) were unable to capitalize on their starts.

The Knight Riders’ bowling attack was led by Andre Russell, who took 3/37 in his four overs. Mohammad Amir supported with 2/35. Ali Khan claimed one wicket but conceded 42 runs in three overs.

The Knight Riders successfully chased down the target of 179, finishing at 179/3 with 13 balls remaining.

Munro set the stage with a remarkable 67 off 44 deliveries, hitting four sixes and four fours. His performance earned him the Player of the Match award.

Pooran then took control, scoring 65 from 40 balls, which included six sixes. Alex Hales and Kieron Pollard each scored 19 runs, while Keacy Carty added just one run.

For the Royals, Ramon Simmonds and Jomel Warrican each secured a wicket, but their efforts were not enough to prevent the defeat.
