ISLAMABAD: Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal has affirmed that eliminating counterfeit and substandard medicines from Pakistan is non-negotiable, signaling the launch of an uncompromising, nationwide crackdown.

Emphasizing that protecting human lives is paramount, he announced the revival of the National Task Force 2025—tasked with coordinating efforts across federal and provincial levels alongside agencies such as Customs and FIA. This strategic push includes drone raids, surprise inspections, and enforcement actions against pharmaceutical factories, distributors, and retailers.

To empower citizens, Kamal revealed plans for a new mobile app offering real-time barcode verification for medicines, reporting tools for suspected fake drugs, and alerts on medicine shortages or adverse reactions. He described the effort as a national movement, not just a task force, underscoring the gravity of the issue.
