Arsenal Faces Injury Concerns After Victory

Following Arsenal’s dominant 5-0 victory over Leeds United, manager Mikel Arteta voiced considerable apprehension regarding the fitness of key players Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard, both of whom suffered injuries during the match at Emirates Stadium.

Saka, who scored Arsenal’s second goal, appeared to sustain a hamstring injury just before the hour mark and was promptly substituted by Leandro Trossard.

Arteta expressed his worry, noting that Saka had been performing exceptionally well but indicated he felt discomfort in his hamstring. He clarified that it was not the same hamstring previously affected.

Saka’s Hamstring Issue

“While running with the ball and challenging a defender, Bukayo felt something in his hamstring,” Arteta explained. “We’ll assess it. It appears to be a different hamstring than the one he injured before. The fact that Bukayo had to come off suggests it could be a significant issue.”

Odegaard’s Shoulder Injury

Odegaard was also taken off the field after landing awkwardly on his shoulder in the first half. Initially, the Norwegian international tried to continue playing but was eventually replaced by Ethan Nwaneri in the 38th minute. Scans will be conducted to determine the severity of the injury.

Arteta verified that Odegaard would undergo a scan on his shoulder, stating, “Martin experienced shoulder discomfort upon landing.”

Notably, Kai Havertz is also currently sidelined due to injury. With these three important starters potentially unavailable, Arteta will have limited options for the upcoming Premier League fixtures against Manchester City, Nottingham Forest, Liverpool, and Newcastle.
