In a landmark move to strengthen Pakistan’s law enforcement training, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has announced a strategic plan to upgrade the National Police Academy (NPA). The goal is to transform the academy into a world-class institution, mirroring the rigorous training framework of the Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) Kakul. This initiative is set to enhance police training, professional development, and operational efficiency.
A New Era for Police Training in Pakistan
During a high-level meeting at the NPA in Islamabad, Minister Naqvi reviewed a comprehensive upgrade strategy that includes the establishment of an Elite Force Training School and a Technical Training Center. These institutions will equip police personnel with modern policing techniques, tactical training, and specialized skills to combat evolving security challenges.
Additionally, new indoor and outdoor firing ranges will be developed to provide hands-on firearm training. This move aligns with international standards and ensures officers are well-prepared for high-risk law enforcement scenarios.
Infrastructure Enhancements for Better Training
Recognizing the importance of infrastructure in training effectiveness, Minister Naqvi directed the expansion and aesthetic enhancement of the NPA parade ground. Furthermore, a dedicated residential block for training officers will be constructed, providing comfortable accommodations and an environment conducive to learning.
The government has already allocated Rs500 million for the NPA’s development. Speaking at a previous passing-out parade, Minister Naqvi emphasized his vision of making the NPA a globally recognized institution that attracts law enforcement officers from other countries for advanced training programs.
Collaboration for Excellence
The meeting was attended by key figures, including the Commandant of the National Police Academy, the Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), the Inspector General of Islamabad, and other senior officials. Their collective input reflects a unified commitment to strengthening Pakistan’s policing system through advanced training and state-of-the-art facilities.
With these ambitious upgrades, the National Police Academy is poised to become a premier training institution, shaping a new generation of police officers capable of upholding law and order with greater efficiency and professionalism.
