Okafor Transfers to Premier League Team on Four-Year Contract
Leeds United has successfully acquired striker Noah Okafor from AC Milan for a reported fee of £18 million, contributing to the Premier League’s record-breaking summer spending, which has now exceeded £2.37 billion.
The club officially announced the signing of the Swiss international through a formal statement.
“Leeds United are thrilled to confirm the addition of Noah Okafor on a four-year agreement, pending the necessary work permit and international clearances,” the statement read.
Okafor expressed that the decision to join Leeds was straightforward, citing his long-held aspiration to compete in the Premier League.
“Since childhood, I have dreamed of the possibility of playing in the Premier League. That made this an easy decision,” Okafor stated.
“I believe my playing style is well-suited to the Premier League, so this feels like a dream come true. I am eager to get onto the field.
“I’ve heard the Premier League is the best and most competitive league globally. Many of my friends have played here, and I’m incredibly excited to begin.”
The 25-year-old marks the ninth player acquisition for the Premier League team this summer, following their promotion from the Championship.
With Okafor’s arrival, Premier League teams have surpassed the previous spending record in a single transfer window, which was £2.36 billion in 2023.
Okafor’s career began with Swiss club FC Basel. He then moved to RB Salzburg after standout performances in the Swiss Super League. Following this, he signed a five-year contract with Milan in 2023.
During his time with the Italian club, he made 54 appearances and scored seven goals before spending last season on loan with Napoli, a rival Serie A team.
