John Cena’s Final Wrestling Match Set for December
The illustrious wrestling career of John Cena, the 17-time WWE Champion, is drawing to a close. Cena had previously indicated that 2025 would be his last year competing. His final match is scheduled for Saturday, December 13, during a special edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event.
The announcement occurred on Wednesday alongside the unveiling of a new multi-year agreement between WWE and Peacock, NBC’s streaming platform. Peacock will become the exclusive streaming home for Saturday Night’s Main Event, airing four specials annually.
The next two specials are slated for November 1 and December 13, with Cena’s farewell bout headlining the December event.
NBC Sports President Rick Cordella voiced his enthusiasm for the ongoing collaboration with WWE, stating, “Peacock has enjoyed a fantastic relationship with WWE, and we anticipate its continuation well into the future.”
He further noted, “Saturday Night’s Main Event features some of the highest-quality content WWE produces, including John Cena’s forthcoming retirement match, all of which will be broadcast live and exclusively on Peacock.”
While the specific location remains unconfirmed, sources indicate that WWE intends to hold the event at TD Garden in Boston, Cena’s home state of Massachusetts.
Cena’s farewell tour will see him return to full-time wrestling in 2025, initially portraying a heel character before transitioning back to his popular fan-favorite persona.
Cena recently lost the Undisputed WWE Championship to Cody Rhodes and is scheduled to compete against Logan Paul at Clash in Paris on August 31. He is also expected to headline WrestlePalooza on September 20, facing Brock Lesnar.
With his final match officially on the calendar, Cena’s remarkable two-decade career will conclude this December, signifying the end of an era for WWE.
