Lee Cautions Jadeja Against Injury Risk from Sword Celebration

Former Australian speedster Brett Lee has cautioned Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja regarding his signature sword-wielding celebration, suggesting it could place undue pressure on his rotator cuff.

During a discussion on his YouTube channel, Lee lauded Jadeja’s comprehensive cricketing abilities but advised him to be aware of his physical well-being.

“The only potential injury I foresee for him is a rotator cuff issue, stemming from his sword celebration. While I appreciate it, he should prioritize taking care of his body and avoid overdoing the celebration,” Lee remarked.

Lee further commented that Jadeja, even at 36 years old, likely has several productive years of cricket ahead. He characterized Jadeja as a complete cricketer, excelling in all necessary aspects to thrive at the highest level.

“He executes the fundamentals effectively, employing a straightforward and efficient technique. His approach involves a smooth run-up, accurate bowling, maintaining the appropriate line and length as required, and completing his overs swiftly,” Lee elaborated.

He also emphasized Jadeja’s remarkable fitness, enabling him to efficiently cover ground on the field and make valuable contributions across all facets of the game.

“Despite being 36, his fitness is exceptional. He covers considerable ground and takes pride in his fitness level. This is likely why he consistently rises to the occasion in critical moments,” Lee added.

Jadeja recently had an outstanding performance in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, achieving five half-centuries and accumulating 516 runs at an average of 86 throughout the five-match series.

This marked the first instance of him surpassing 500 runs in a red-ball series. Additionally, he secured seven wickets, making substantial contributions with both his batting and bowling skills.
