In a shocking incident on Friday, a deadly explosion took place in Harnai, a district in Balochistan, resulting in the loss of at least 10 lives and leaving 6 others injured. The blast, believed to have been caused by an improvised explosive device (IED), targeted a pickup truck that was transporting coal mine workers in the Coal Mines Area PMDC 94 in Shahrag.

According to Hazrat Wali Kakar, the Deputy Commissioner of Harnai, the explosion occurred early in the morning and caused significant damage to the vehicle. Rescue operations were quickly mobilized, with the injured victims being transferred to the nearby Shahrag Basic Health Unit for treatment. The authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, and early findings suggest the device was planted on the roadside, a method commonly used by terrorists in the region.

The tragic event has drawn strong reactions from government officials. Balochistan’s Chief Minister, Sarfraz Bugti, expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and emphasized the government’s commitment to combating terrorism. “We will not rest until those responsible for this heinous act are brought to justice,” Bugti stated, reaffirming his government’s determination to maintain peace in the province.

The Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, also condemned the attack, voicing his sympathies for the victims and urging swift action against those involved. Law enforcement agencies are working tirelessly to gather evidence and ensure that justice is served.

This tragic attack highlights the ongoing security challenges in Balochistan, where violence against civilians, particularly workers in vulnerable industries like mining, remains a significant concern. The provincial government has vowed to increase security measures to protect citizens and prevent such incidents in the future.
