Parnell Unveils His All-Time ODI XI

Former South African bowler Wayne Parnell has revealed his all-time One Day International XI, which includes some of the sport’s most celebrated figures, such as Pakistan’s former captain Shahid Afridi and the legendary pace duo Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis.

Parnell, fresh off winning the World Championship of Legends title with the South Africa Champions, presented a lineup full of stars, choosing former Indian captain MS Dhoni to lead the squad.

The 36-year-old selected batting legends Sachin Tendulkar and Hashim Amla as his opening batsmen, followed by modern-day great Virat Kohli at the important No. 3 position.

The middle order features South Africa’s AB de Villiers and Australia’s Michael Hussey, both distinguished for their steadiness and match-winning performances.

Parnell chose former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi for the all-rounder position, recognizing his impactful batting style and effective leg-spin bowling. Dhoni will not only captain the team but also fulfill the wicketkeeping duties.

The bowling lineup showcases the dominant Pakistan combination of Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis, along with Australian speedster Brett Lee.

Sri Lanka’s Muttiah Muralitharan will lead the spin attack, partnering with Afridi to potentially create a challenging duo for any batting conditions.

Considered one of cricket’s most potent fast-bowling partnerships, Wasim and Waqar were known for intimidating opposition batsmen with their rapid pace, precise yorkers, and significant swing.

Wasim holds the title of the second-highest wicket-taker in ODI history, having taken 502 wickets in 356 matches with an economy of 3.89, while Waqar is third with 416 wickets in 262 matches, maintaining an economy of 4.68.

In Test matches, Wasim captured 414 wickets in 104 matches, and Waqar claimed 373 wickets in 87 matches.
