Azerbaijan Conferred ‘Patriotic War Medal’ on COAS Asim Munir
Colonel General Karim Valiyev, Azerbaijan’s First Deputy Minister of Defence and Chief of the General Staff, presented the ‘Patriotic War Medal’ to Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. This honor, bestowed on behalf of President IIham Aliyev, recognizes the Field Marshal’s efforts to enhance military cooperation between the two nations, according to the military’s media affairs division.
A statement from Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) detailed that Colonel General Valiyev met with Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, where they addressed matters of common interest.
Discussions on Security
During their discussion, both military leaders exchanged views on various subjects of mutual interest, with emphasis placed on the current global and regional security landscape.
COAS Munir affirmed Pakistan’s strong and fraternal relationship with Azerbaijan and restated the country’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties in the future.
“COAS congratulated the visiting dignitary on the successful conclusion of the peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia,” the statement mentioned.
Colonel-General Valiyev lauded the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and their accomplishments during Marka-e-Haq – referencing the period of conflict with India that spanned from the April 22 attack in Pahalgam to the May 10 conclusion of operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos.
The Azerbaijani delegation conveyed their best wishes for Pakistan’s upcoming Independence Day and associated celebratory events.
The Field Marshal expressed gratitude to the leadership and the people of Azerbaijan for their solidarity with Pakistan during Marka-e-Haq and for the participation of the Azeri contingent in the Independence Day ceremony, according to the statement.
According to ISPR, both leaders affirmed their dedication to promoting defense cooperation and pursuing collaborative initiatives to foster regional peace and stability.
