Verstappen Committed to Red Bull Through 2028

Analyst Alex Brundle has suggested a strategy for Max Verstappen to maintain his legacy with Red Bull, according to recent reports.

Verstappen’s current Formula 1 season has presented challenges, with his aspirations for a fifth consecutive championship appearing less certain. He currently holds third place with 187 points, trailing McLaren’s leading drivers, Oscar Piastri (284 points) and Lando Norris (275).

This season, Verstappen has secured two victories and achieved five podium finishes.

Brundle outlined the steps Verstappen should take in the remaining races to safeguard his reputation at Red Bull.

Brundle’s Analysis

Brundle stated, “Max Verstappen’s reputation has taken a slight hit compared to when he was dominating, showcasing his ability to outperform a challenging Red Bull or fully utilize its potential. He demonstrated this by overtaking Piastri in Imola and leading races in a difficult car.”

He added, “Even with the knowledge that winning the championship is unlikely this year, he needs to continue performing at that high level.”

Verstappen has affirmed his continued presence at Red Bull for the 2026 season, putting an end to speculation regarding his future.

Reports indicated that a clause in Verstappen’s Red Bull agreement would have enabled him to depart at the close of 2025 if his ranking was fourth or lower following the Hungarian Grand Prix.

The Dutch racer is contracted with Red Bull until the conclusion of 2028.
