US Reaffirms Commitment to Countering Terrorism in Dialogue with Pakistan

The United States has restated its dedication to combating terrorism in all its manifestations during a counterterrorism discussion with Pakistan, according to a statement released by the US Embassy in Islamabad on Tuesday.

The dialogue occurred one day after the US State Department designated the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) and Majeed Brigade as foreign terrorist organizations, following a series of deadly attacks claimed by the group.

In a released statement, the embassy mentioned that Acting Coordinator for Counterterrorism Gregory LoGerfo and Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker participated in the US-Pakistan Counterterrorism Dialogue.

As per the statement, the aim of the engagement was to further the mutual determination of both nations to tackle what it described as a “global threat”. The embassy emphasized that Washington “remains committed” to this collaborative effort.

Prior to intensifying the ban on Monday, Washington had already classified the BLA under the less severe label of specially designated global terrorists, which targets financial assets.

This recent measure is taken as US President Donald Trump increases communication with Pakistan following discussions with Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
