Goldberg’s AEW Prospects Dim: A Commentary
Peter Rosenberg, a WWE personality and television host, shared insights on Sunday regarding why All Elite Wrestling (AEW) might refrain from signing wrestling icon Bill Goldberg.
Goldberg concluded his tenure with WWE following a defeat against Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship at a Saturday Night’s Main Event last month.
The wrestling veteran is reportedly exploring new opportunities, with AEW being a potential destination. However, Rosenberg suggests there are compelling reasons against this move.
According to Rosenberg, two primary factors are at play: Goldberg’s diminished physical presence and perceived ego-related complications.
Rosenberg’s Explanation:
- Physical Condition: “He doesn’t present the same imposing figure anymore.”
- Ego Concerns: “AEW’s recent progress could be jeopardized by introducing ego clashes, potentially influencing writers and storytellers. While everyone involved is a professional, Goldberg’s ego has historically interfered, detracting from the overall experience.”
It’s worth noting that WWE also expressed interest in signing Goldberg’s son, Gage. However, Goldberg reportedly discouraged his son from pursuing the offer.
Goldberg stated, “They attempted to offer him an NIL deal, but upon learning the financial terms, I intervened. Nonetheless, they would be remiss if they didn’t consider it as a future possibility.”
