NAB Recovers Substantial Amount in Second Quarter of 2025
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has reported significant recoveries during the second quarter of 2025 (April-June), totaling Rs456.3 billion. This figure represents a substantial increase of Rs365.29 billion compared to the Rs91.01 billion recovered in the first quarter of the same year, according to an official statement released on Saturday.
From the total recoveries of Rs547.31 billion for the first two quarters of 2025, movable and immovable assets worth Rs532.33 billion have been successfully transferred to various federal and provincial ministries, departments, and financial institutions.
Additionally, compensation has been provided to 12,611 individuals who were victims of various public fraud schemes.
The statement further indicates that NAB has recovered a cumulative total of Rs5,854.73 billion over the past two years. This amount is reportedly 700% greater than the Rs839.08 billion recovered since the establishment of the Bureau.
The statement emphasized that this notable achievement reflects the dedication of NAB officers across different regions, who have effectively recovered substantial funds from individuals involved in corrupt practices.
Key Recoveries and Achievements in Q2 2025
- NAB Rawalpindi reclaimed 51 kanal of state land, valued at Rs29 billion, in Sector E-11, Islamabad, and handed it over to the Capital Development Authority (CDA).
- In the B4U public fraud case, NAB secured Rs3 billion, which will be distributed to 17,214 affected parties. Another tranche of Rs4 billion is anticipated in the current quarter.
- In the Banker’s City case, 640 kanal and 11 marla of land with significant market value has been transferred to NAB for distribution among the victims.
- NAB Sukkur successfully recovered National Highway Authority land worth Rs25.079 billion.
- Additionally, it recovered 127 kanal and 15 marla of land, valued at Rs895.160 million, belonging to the Education and Literacy Department, Government of Sindh.
- During the quarter ending June 2025, Rs384.27 billion worth of forest land was reclaimed, contributing to a total forest land recovery value of Rs1,487.77 billion.
- NAB Lahore disbursed Rs3.2 billion, recovered in the Eden case, to 11,880 affectees of the Society.
- In the Pak Arab case, the accused surrendered eight properties valued at Rs3.9 billion, which are being transferred to NAB. The proceeds from these assets will be disbursed to 2,500 affectees.
- A plea bargain of Rs2.181 billion is in progress with the owners of Elite Town Housing Society, with the recovered funds designated for disbursement among 1,789 affectees.
The statement concludes by noting preliminary estimates suggesting that state land worth approximately Rs5 trillion is illegally occupied and will be recovered.
