Imam-ul-Haq Shines with Career-Best Score in One Day Cup

NORTHAMPTON: Imam-ul-Haq played a remarkable innings, achieving a personal best of 159 runs, guiding Yorkshire to a significant 202-run triumph over Northamptonshire in the One Day Cup at the County Cricket Ground on Friday.

The elegant left-handed batsman faced 130 balls, hitting 20 fours and two sixes. During his innings, he also surpassed 5,000 runs in List A cricket.

This performance surpassed his previous top score of 151, which he recorded against England in 2019.

Yorkshire posted a substantial total of 374 runs for five wickets in their 50 overs. Imam arrived at the crease early in the innings, with the team struggling at 8-1 after just 2.1 overs.

He then formed a crucial 83-run stand with William Luxton, boosting the score to 91 after 16 overs.

The 29-year-old reached his century from 95 deliveries and then increased his scoring rate to put pressure on the bowlers.

He further added important partnerships, including a 158-run stand with James Wharton (66) and 75 runs with Matt Revis, helping Yorkshire exceed the 300-run mark.

Imam’s innings concluded on the final ball of the 44th over, with Yorkshire’s score at 324.

In response, Northamptonshire struggled and were all out for 172 runs in 38.5 overs. George Bartlett was the leading scorer with a rapid 30 runs from 24 balls, including three fours and a six.

Dan Moriarty stood out as Yorkshire’s best bowler, claiming four vital wickets in his 10 overs to secure a convincing victory.
