Broja Transfers to Burnley After Chelsea Stint
Armando Broja has officially departed from his long-time club, Chelsea, and is set to join Burnley, who were recently promoted. The announcement of his five-year contract was made this Friday.
While the exact transfer sum remains undisclosed, reports from British media suggest that Burnley will initially pay Chelsea, their Premier League counterpart, £10 million ($13.4 million). The agreement also includes potential add-ons that could amount to an additional £5 million ($6.7 million).
Broja’s journey with Chelsea began in 2009 when he was only eight years old, having moved from Tottenham. He progressed through Chelsea’s academy, eventually earning a spot in the first team. During his time there, he made 38 appearances and scored nine goals.
Broja, an English-born striker who represents Albania due to his parents’ heritage, has previously been loaned out to several clubs, with his most recent stint at Everton last season.
However, Everton opted not to make the transfer permanent. With Chelsea’s significant investments in acquiring forwards like Liam Delap and Joao Pedro, Broja decided to seek opportunities elsewhere.
The 23-year-old, who has also gained Premier League experience playing for Southampton and Fulham, expressed his enthusiasm in a statement: “I am genuinely thrilled to join Burnley as a player. It’s an exciting time to be part of this club as we approach the new Premier League season. I am eager to get started.”
He added, “I feel good, I’m prepared, and I’m looking forward to the challenges of playing for this club. I assure everyone that I will give my absolute best every time I wear the club’s jersey.”
Burnley has been active during the off-season, also securing the signatures of Bashir Humphreys and Lesley Ugochukwu. These acquisitions demonstrate their commitment to strengthening the squad as they return to the highest level of English football.
