On World Brain Day (July 22), Patients’ Aid Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to champion lifelong brain health for underprivileged communities in Pakistan. Operating within Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), the foundation ensures equitable access to neurological, psychiatric, and cancer-related treatments for all patients, regardless of their financial status.

In 2023–24, the neurology and neurotrauma units at JPMC, empowered by Patients’ Aid, managed over 54,800 outpatient visits, performed 936 plasmapheresis procedures, completed 2,848 EEG tests, and carried out 2,173 neurotrauma surgeries for 82,800+ new patients.

The foundation has also revolutionized brain cancer care by installing high-end CyberKnife and TomoTherapy systems, the only such facilities offered entirely free of cost in Pakistan. During the same period, 463 cancer patients received 1,836 CyberKnife sessions, and 329 patients benefited from 7,395 TomoTherapy sessions.

In addition to direct treatment, Patients’ Aid works tirelessly to confront stigma, raise awareness, and expand access to psychiatric services. This includes a modern Department of Psychiatry & Behavioural Sciences, which treated over 20,600 patients in its first six months.

Through state-of-the-art diagnostics, MRI, CT, PET-CT, EEG, and more, Patients’ Aid ensures that advanced medical care is not a privilege but a right. Their holistic approach safeguards brain health from childhood through adulthood, establishing JPMC as a beacon of compassionate, world-class neurological care in Pakistan.
