Dr. Nelson Azeem, the Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Health, informed the National Assembly that Pakistan currently faces no shortage of life-saving medicines, including crucial treatments such as insulin and oncology drugs.

While a brief supply disruption occurred in May, officials confirmed the issue has since been fully resolved. The government highlighted that Pakistan now ensures medicine availability through a dual strategy of imports and domestic manufacturing, enhancing resilience in healthcare provisioning.

These vital medications must be stored under precise temperature conditions, and are stocked in specialized pharmacies equipped accordingly. Despite regulatory permission for a nominal 3.14% medicine price increase in July, no such adjustment has been enacted by pharmaceutical companies.

This update brings assurance to citizens concerned about access to essential treatments, emphasizing the government’s commitment to maintaining supply consistency and price stability for critical healthcare needs across the country.
