McGregor’s Training Before Khabib Fight Questioned

According to international media reports on Wednesday, Artem Lobov, a former teammate of Conor McGregor, has alleged that ‘The Notorious’ did minimal training in preparation for his UFC bout against Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Lobov and McGregor were close in 2018, around the time the fight occurred. In what became a defining moment, McGregor was defeated by Khabib via submission in a fight considered the biggest in UFC history.

Experts cited several factors for McGregor’s loss to Nurmagomedov, including his prior boxing match against Floyd Mayweather in 2017. However, Lobov, who is no longer on good terms with McGregor, now claims McGregor only wanted to train twice a week to prepare for the Khabib Nurmagomedov fight.

Lobov stated, “I know that fight bothers Conor because he didn’t train properly for that fight,”

“He was only training twice a week for Khabib. I was trying to persuade him to come to Las Vegas, saying, ‘We have to do this,’ but he was unwilling.”

Lobov further commented that Conor McGregor was in more of a party frame of mind. Upon watching the match, Lobov believed that if McGregor had trained four times a week, the outcome might have been different.

“He was in the wrong mindset, a party mindset, and only trained twice a week. When I watched the fight, I thought, ‘Oh my god, if you had trained four times a week, you probably would’ve won’,” Lobov added.

“Imagine him with a full training camp, like the Conor who fought Eddie Alvarez. Picture that Conor fighting Khabib. That’s what I would like to see.”
