Nawaz Acknowledges Yuvraj Singh as Inspiration After Series Win
LAUDERHILL: Following Pakistan’s T20I series triumph over the West Indies in the United States, Pakistani all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz mentioned that former Indian star Yuvraj Singh is his favorite cricketer.
During the post-match press conference, after Pakistan clinched the series 2-1, Nawaz expressed that Yuvraj has consistently served as a source of inspiration.
“Yuvraj Singh is my favourite all-rounder,” Nawaz stated, highlighting the impact of the Indian cricketer on his career.
Reflecting on his own display in the series, Nawaz mentioned that he encountered no significant obstacles and remains focused on sustaining his current form.
“Throughout my career, I have frequently bowled with the new ball, so adapting to that role in this series was not particularly challenging,” he added.
The left-arm spinner proved to be a key asset for Pakistan, earning the Player of the Series award with seven wickets taken across the three games.
Pakistan secured the three-match T20I series against the West Indies 2-1, culminating in a 13-run victory in the third and final match held at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground on Monday.
After winning the toss, captain Salman Ali Agha chose to bat, leading Pakistan to post a total of 189/4 in their 20 overs.
Sahibzada Farhan delivered a remarkable innings, scoring 74 runs from 53 deliveries, which included five sixes and three fours.
Saim Ayub also achieved his second half-century of the series, contributing 66 runs from 49 balls with two sixes and four fours.
For the West Indies, Jason Holder, Roston Chase, and Shamar Joseph each managed to secure one wicket.
In pursuit of 190 runs, the West Indies presented a strong challenge but were ultimately limited to 176/6 in their allotted 20 overs.
Alick Athanaze played aggressively, scoring 60 runs from 40 balls, featuring one six and eight fours; however, his efforts were insufficient to secure a win.
Sherfane Rutherford also contributed a rapid 51 runs from 35 balls, including three sixes and four fours, but the team fell short.
