Shaheens Dominate SACA & MCC Young Cricketers with Strong Batting Performance
CANTERBURY: Omair Bin Yousuf and Rohail Nazir’s impressive half-centuries propelled Pakistan Shaheens to a formidable 369 for eight on the first day of their three-day match against South Asian Cricket Academy & MCC Young Cricketers at the Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence, on Sunday.
This game is Shaheens’ second three-day contest on their current tour, following a drawn result against the Professional County Club Select XI.
Rohail Nazir remained undefeated with a score of 98 from 114 balls, which included 14 boundaries.
He solidified the innings through a 91-run partnership for the seventh wicket with Omair, who scored a swift 68 off 90 deliveries, hitting five fours and one six.
The wicketkeeper also contributed to an unbroken 72-run partnership for the ninth wicket together with Maaz Sadaqat, who added 25 from 42 balls.
Earlier in the innings, openers Shamyl Hussain and Azan Awais provided a stable start of 39 runs. Shamyl scored a rapid 33 off 30 balls before his dismissal, while Azan was out shortly after for four.
Captain Saud Shakeel and Ali Zaryab then rebuilt the innings with a 67-run partnership for the third wicket. Saud scored 35 from 63 balls, and Zaryab contributed 44 off 103 deliveries.
For the opposing team, Eesa Nadeem delivered economical figures of 2-43, while Hishaam Khan and Sana Khan each claimed two wickets.
