Hafeez to Determine Playing XI After Assessing Matchday Conditions
BIRMINGHAM: Mohammad Hafeez, the captain of Pakistan Champions, conveyed his admiration for his team on Friday, acknowledging their commitment to maintaining principles, respect, and sportsmanship during their participation in the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025.
During a press conference held on Friday, Hafeez reflected on the journey of Pakistan Champions thus far, commending his fellow players for their accountability and outstanding performance on the field.
“I am immensely proud of the dedication shown by each member throughout our campaign. Every player embraced responsibility and adhered to three core values: integrity, respect, and the spirit of the game. We successfully embodied all of these,” Hafeez stated.
“We showcased exceptional cricket skills throughout the competition, demonstrating serious commitment rather than casual play. It demanded significant effort, and everyone concentrated on delivering their best,” Hafeez added with a smile.
When questioned about the team’s composition for the final showdown against South Africa Champions, scheduled to take place at Edgbaston on Saturday, Hafeez mentioned that the management will decide after evaluating the conditions on the matchday.
“We have yet to assess the conditions. Tomorrow, we will examine the prevailing circumstances, and with all our players prepared, we aim to field our optimal lineup,” Hafeez explained.
Mohammad Hafeez also provided an update on the fitness status of star all-rounder Shahid Afridi, indicating that he is still not in peak condition but did not dismiss the chance of him participating in the final.
“Unfortunately, he is still not feeling his best, but I am encouraged by his determination today. He is making continuous efforts, and if we believe he can make a substantial impact, we will certainly consider including him.”
