Iranian President to Visit Pakistan for Bilateral Talks

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is scheduled to arrive in Islamabad on Saturday for a two-day official visit, according to the Foreign Office on Friday.

The Foreign Office (FO) stated that this visit occurs at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The statement further noted that “Dr. Pezeshkian will be accompanied by a high-ranking delegation, including Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, key ministers, and other senior officials.”

During his time in Pakistan, President Pezeshkian is slated to meet with President Asif Ali Zardari and engage in delegation-level discussions with PM Shehbaz Sharif.

This trip marks Pezeshkian’s first official visit to Pakistan since assuming the presidency of Iran.

PM Shehbaz previously visited Iran on May 26, 2025. This upcoming visit is anticipated to further enhance the friendly relations between Pakistan and Iran.

Mehdi Sanai, the Political Advisor to the Iranian President, mentioned that formal meetings and discussions with “cultural and business leaders” are planned during the visit.

In a post on X dated July 30, he stated, “The ties between our nations include political, economic, religious, and cultural aspects.”

The advisor also noted that enhancing provincial and cross-border cooperation, along with boosting trade beyond the current $3 billion mark, are key objectives of this visit.

Pezeshkian will be the second Iranian president to conduct a state visit to Pakistan within a span of two years. The visit was initially scheduled for the final week of July.

In April 2024, Ebrahim Raisi made a three-day official visit to Pakistan, a month before his passing in a helicopter accident.

Earlier in May, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif made a two-day bilateral visit to Iran as part of his regional tour to friendly nations to show support during the conflict with India.

During the visit, the Prime Minister had meetings with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and the Iranian president.

The discussions focused on Pakistan-Iran relations, specifically on enhancing trade and regional connectivity, and addressed regional issues. There was also appreciation for Iran’s efforts to maintain regional peace during the conflict initiated against Pakistan by India.

Both parties also deliberated on reinforcing strategic ties between the two countries, pushing for an immediate end to Zionist oppression in Gaza, and securing a sustainable ceasefire.

Prior to this, he had visited Iran in May 2024 to attend the memorial ceremony for former President Raisi.
