Guardians Secure Decisive Victory Over Rockies

CLEVELAND: In a stellar performance at Progressive Field on Tuesday, Kyle Manzardo propelled the Cleveland Guardians to a dominant 10-4 triumph against the Colorado Rockies. Manzardo blasted two home runs and scored three runs, marking a significant contribution to the Guardians’ win.

Manzardo’s impressive display included a two-run homer in the third inning and a solo shot in the sixth, bringing his season total to 18. This marks his second multi-homer game of his career. His offensive prowess ignited the Guardians’ lineup, which took control early and maintained their lead throughout the game.

Gabriel Arias and Brayan Rocchio each drove in two runs, contributing to Cleveland’s explosive start with seven runs in the first three innings against a struggling Colorado team.

Guardians pitcher Logan Allen delivered a career-defining performance, pitching seven strong innings. The left-hander conceded two solo home runs, one to Jordan Beck in the fourth and another to Michael Toglia in the seventh. However, he effectively minimized further damage, allowing eight hits and one walk while recording three strikeouts. Allen’s 114 pitches marked the highest count for a Cleveland pitcher since Aaron Civale achieved the same number in 2021.

The Guardians swiftly capitalized against Rockies starter Tanner Gordon (2-3), who allowed six earned runs on eight hits in just three innings. Gordon’s outing was further complicated by a defensive error and an unusual balk when he stumbled on the mound in the second inning.

Cleveland has now secured seven wins in 12 games since the All-Star break, positioning themselves as strong contenders for an AL Wild Card spot. Conversely, Colorado’s record fell to a league-worst 28-79. Kyle Farmer added a consolation run for the Rockies with a solo home run in the ninth inning.

The three-game series will conclude Wednesday, with Kyle Freeland scheduled to pitch for Colorado against Cleveland’s Kolby Allard. Freeland, who gave up four solo homers in his previous start on July 25 against Baltimore, will aim to bounce back as the Rockies seek to avoid being swept.
