Pant Announces Rehabilitation Plans Post-Fracture Recovery
Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant shared an update on Monday regarding his rehabilitation journey after a foot injury sidelined him for the remainder of the fifth Test against England.
The injury, identified as a metatarsal fracture, occurred during the fourth Test’s opening day when Pant attempted a reverse sweep against English all-rounder Chris Woakes.
The ball struck his right foot, causing him obvious discomfort. He had to retire hurt at 37 and was taken off the field on a golf cart.
Subsequent medical evaluations confirmed the fracture, with an estimated recovery time of six to eight weeks. Fans captured images of Pant wearing a moon boot on his right leg outside the team hotel in Manchester.
As a result, N Jagadeesan, a wicketkeeper-batter from Tamil Nadu, took Rishabh Pant’s place for the rest of the series.
Following the official announcement of his exclusion from the series, Pant used X, previously known as Twitter, to update his fans on his rehabilitation and express his excitement about returning to the field.
In a statement on X, Pant stated, “I appreciate all of the support and well wishes that have been sent my way. It has been a great source of strength. I will start rehab once my fracture has healed, and I am gradually getting used to the procedure. I’m staying patient, adhering to the routines, and giving it my all.”
He concluded, “Playing for my country has always been the proudest experience of my life. I’m excited to get back to doing what I enjoy.”
