Liverpool Permits Diaz to Undergo Medical Examination in Europe

Luis Diaz of Liverpool has been authorized to travel from Asia to Europe for medical assessments.

Reports from British media on Sunday indicated that Bayern Munich has reached an agreement for Liverpool forward Luis Diaz, offering €75 million (£65.5m), inclusive of additional incentives.

Sources indicate Liverpool initially declined Bayern’s offer of £58.5m earlier in the month. Nevertheless, the Bundesliga champions reportedly improved their bid, with Diaz also eager to make the move to Germany.

Given the circumstances, Arne Slot, the head coach of the Reds, chose not to include Diaz in Saturday’s match against AC Milan in Hong Kong, which ended in a 4-2 defeat.

Sources further suggest that Liverpool has granted Diaz permission to journey from Asia to Europe to undergo a medical evaluation in the coming days.

Diaz’s Impact at Liverpool

Since his arrival from Porto in January 2022, Luis Diaz has become an integral player at Anfield. His most recent season with Liverpool was his most prolific, marked by 17 goals across all competitions and a significant contribution to Liverpool’s title-winning performance, where they led by 10 points.

Initially, Diaz, with two years remaining on his contract, expressed interest in joining Barcelona, with the Catalan club also showing keen interest as they sought to enhance their attack alongside Lamine Yamal and Raphina.

However, reports suggest Liverpool declined Barcelona’s offer of around £65m for Diaz, deciding to explore alternative options.

Liverpool has reportedly invested approximately £250m this summer in acquiring Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong, and Milos Kerkez.

The Reds are also reportedly targeting Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, though securing him would require a substantial investment.

Bayern Munich’s Performance and Needs

Bayern Munich secured their 34th Bundesliga title in the last season but were eliminated in the last 16 of the German Cup and the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Diaz could present a valuable attacking option for Bayern, particularly with Jamal Musiala expected to be sidelined for an extended period due to a leg fracture and ankle dislocation sustained at the Club World Cup.
