Asia Cup 2025 Scheduled in UAE from September 9-28
The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) president and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, has officially announced that the Asia Cup 2025 will be staged in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from September 9 to 28. The confirmation came via Naqvi’s update on X.
The announcement included the tournament’s duration, with a promise of a detailed match schedule to follow.
“I am pleased to announce the dates for the ACC Men’s Asia Cup 2025 in UAE. This esteemed tournament is scheduled from September 9th to 28th,” he stated.
He further added, “We anticipate an extraordinary showcase of cricket! The detailed schedule will be released soon.”
Earlier reports suggest that the competition will involve eight teams: India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Hong Kong, UAE, and Oman.
The tournament will consist of 19 games, including the final, which is slated for the last Sunday in September.
Cricket fans can anticipate a potential trilogy of matches between India and Pakistan, starting from the group stage, continuing into the Super Four, and potentially culminating in the final. The Asia Cup will be contested in the T20 format.
Speculation regarding India’s possible withdrawal from the Asia Cup 2025 surfaced in May but was quickly dismissed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
More recently, a promotional graphic featuring only India and Sri Lanka sparked debate on social media, particularly regarding Pakistan’s absence, given the existing political tensions between the two nations.
The existing agreement between the BCCI and the PCB dictates that bilateral matches are limited to neutral ICC or ACC tournaments, precluding the possibility of an India-Pakistan match on Indian soil.
