The Pakistan Private Schools and Colleges Association has made an urgent request to the Education Minister of Sindh and the Minister for Universities and Boards to reconsider the 2025 examination schedule. They have specifically called for the annual exams for 9th and 10th-grade students, as well as first and second-year students, to be held after Eid.
In their appeal, the association highlighted concerns about the timing of exams during the month of Ramadan. Starting the exams on the 15th day of Ramadan, they argue, could create unnecessary mental and physical strain on students and teachers alike. The holy month is often a time when many are engaged in spiritual practices, such as I’tikaf (a form of spiritual retreat), which could interfere with both exam preparation and participation.
Chairman of the association, Anwar Ali Bhatti, and General Secretary, Mohammad Alam Sher Awan, emphasized the importance of adjusting the schedule to better serve the needs of students. They noted that exams during Ramadan could lead to mental stress, disruption of studies, and difficulties in maintaining focus, ultimately affecting the quality of student performance.
The association’s statement stressed that the exams should be scheduled after Eid to ensure a supportive and conducive environment for students. This would not only ease the burden on students and teachers but also allow them to perform at their best without compromising their physical and mental well-being.
In conclusion, the Pakistan Private Schools and Colleges Association is hopeful that the relevant education authorities will review the request promptly and implement changes to create a more student-friendly exam schedule. This proactive approach is essential for ensuring that the educational process remains effective and aligned with students’ overall health and success.
