UFC 319 Predictions: Ortiz Favors Chimaev Over Du Plessis
UFC Hall of Famer Tito Ortiz has voiced his prediction for the highly anticipated middleweight title fight between Khamzat Chimaev and Dricus du Plessis at UFC 319, anticipating a Chimaev victory, according to various reports.
The Chimaev versus Du Plessis match is generating considerable excitement, with numerous MMA experts finding it challenging to foresee the outcome.
Ortiz, a former light heavyweight champion, confidently predicts Chimaev will emerge victorious, emphasizing the ferocity of ‘Borz.’
Ortiz stated, “People are going to witness the true extent of Chimaev’s viciousness. I hold him in high regard; he’s a formidable opponent. Du Plessis, as the current champion, may be in for a surprise, realizing that his wrestling skills are not on par with Chimaev’s.”
UFC 319 is scheduled for August 16 in Chicago, with the main event featuring Dricus Du Plessis defending his middleweight title against Chimaev.
Khamzat Chimaev boasts an unblemished 14-0 record since his debut five years ago. Du Plessis, making his third title defense, has also demonstrated impressive skills, including a victory over Sean Strickland in their UFC 312 rematch in February and a fourth-round submission of Israel Adesanya at UFC 305.
Former bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw recently offered his insights on the fight, advising Chimaev to focus on his cardio training to effectively challenge du Plessis.
Dillashaw commented, “He needs to improve his performance when pushing his limits. His aggressive style can only last so long. He needs to specifically train that aspect. When the heart rate enters the red zone, lactic acid builds up, leading to fatigue.”
