Government Enhances Security for Chinese Nationals, Prioritizes Business Environment

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif affirmed on Tuesday the government’s dedication to fostering a secure and conducive business environment for the Chinese community residing in Pakistan.

“The assurance of Chinese firms in Pakistan’s financial stability holds immense significance for our economic trajectory,” the premier emphasized while presiding over a session focused on security measures for Chinese individuals within the nation.

He indicated that numerous initiatives are underway to bolster the protection of Chinese citizens throughout the country, particularly in Islamabad.

The Prime Minister highlighted Safe City projects as tangible evidence of this growing security capability.

He further mentioned that these projects are being expanded nationwide, aligning with global standards.

“China stands as our ally,” the Prime Minister stated, underscoring that ensuring the well-being of Chinese citizens remains a paramount concern for the government.

He acknowledged the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as a pivotal collaborative venture between the two nations, currently entering its second phase, with a fresh emphasis on business-to-business partnerships.

In relation to CPEC’s advancement, the Prime Minister noted that ensuring the security of Chinese nationals in Pakistan has become increasingly vital.

He instructed that immediate actions be implemented at all airports nationwide to streamline the arrival and departure procedures for Chinese citizens.

During the assembly, the Prime Minister received updates on the advancement of specialized security protocols for Chinese individuals throughout the nation.

The Interior Minister briefed him on the comprehensive security measures presently enforced nationwide.

The briefing highlighted that, considering potential terrorist threats, specific security measures for Chinese citizens have been implemented.

The federal administration and all provinces are collaborating closely on this matter, the briefing noted, adding that Safe City initiatives are under construction across the nation.

The Prime Minister was informed that Chinese individuals are being furnished with security escorts during their travels.

It was further revealed that all forthcoming housing developments will feature surveillance systems compliant with Safe City benchmarks.

The meeting saw the presence of Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Minister of State Talal Chaudhry, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi, along with other high-ranking officials.
