Business Leaders Meet with Field Marshal Asim Munir to Discuss Economic Reforms

RAWALPINDI: A delegation of distinguished business figures, spearheaded by former caretaker federal minister Gohar Ejaz, engaged in discussions with Field Marshal Asim Munir regarding Pakistan’s economic prospects and potential reforms, sources indicate.

The delegation featured notable individuals such as APTMA Chairman Kamran Arshad, SM Tanvir, and the presidents of both the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) and the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI).

Ejaz stated that the delegation briefed the field marshal on the present condition of the national economy, emphasizing that economic stability is gradually being restored and that the business community is giving its full support to governmental policies.

He underlined the importance of enabling businesses to implement significant reforms, suggesting a decrease in interest rates to correspond with inflation. Furthermore, he urged the government to resolve the business community’s concerns pertaining to the federal budget.

Ejaz promoted an economic strategy driven by exports, highlighting the necessity of protecting local cotton production and assisting farmers. He additionally requested that the government fulfill the commitments made in the most recent budget.

The army chief’s assembly occurs amidst his continuous backing for economic advancement on multiple occasions.

During an official visit to the United States the previous month, the COAS recognized the contributions of Pakistanis residing abroad to the nation’s economy and global reputation through remittances, investments, and accomplishments in diverse fields.

Prior to that, in a meeting with Pakistan Crypto Council (PCC) CEO Bilal Bin Saqib in May, the field marshal deliberated on the trajectory of the country’s digital economy, with a primary emphasis on empowering the youth through blockchain, cryptocurrency, and artificial intelligence.

The meeting highlighted an increasing national dedication to nascent technologies as a means for economic durability and worldwide importance. A key aspect of the debate was the conviction that Pakistan’s youth must be at the core of this transition.
