PAF’s RIAT 2025 Triumph: A Boost for Pakistan’s Economy and Global Image
Mian Zahid Hussain, Chairman of the National Business Group Pakistan, President of the Pakistan Businessmen and Intellectuals Forum, and Chairman of the FPCCI Advisory Board, stated that the Pakistan Air Force’s (PAF) success at the Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) 2025 signifies a significant strategic and economic win for the nation.
Recognition of JF-17C Block III
He elaborated that the “Spirit of the Meet” award secured by the JF-17C Block III highlights Pakistan’s enhanced domestic defense capabilities. It also showcases its proficiency in producing highly competitive 4.5-generation fighter jets at a reasonable cost, which is an essential consideration for numerous international purchasers.
Award for C-130H Hercules
Concurrently, the “Concours d’Elegance” award presented to the C-130H Hercules underscores the PAF’s exceptional standards in maintenance and overall professionalism, affirming the country’s Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) capabilities as a valuable export service.
Enhancing Pakistan’s Global Standing
Mian Zahid Hussain emphasized that these achievements collectively elevate Pakistan’s international reputation, portraying it as a technologically advanced and highly competent nation, thereby countering existing unfavorable global perceptions. He added that this enhanced national image plays a crucial role in attracting foreign direct investment, aligning with the Special Investment Facilitation Council’s initiatives and recent FDI trends.
Furthermore, he noted that the success at RIAT is poised to significantly enhance the export potential of the JF-17 Thunder, evidenced by the substantial $4.6 billion agreement with Azerbaijan, positioning Pakistan as a prominent participant in the global defense sector.
While Pakistan continues to manage considerable defense expenditures within a demanding fiscal landscape, strategic accomplishments such as the RIAT awards provide substantial long-term economic and diplomatic advantages.
They not only directly contribute to the expansion and diversification of the aerospace sector via exports and MRO services but also indirectly stimulate tourism and broader economic collaboration by nurturing greater international trust. This triumph solidifies Pakistan’s standing on the world stage as a nation capable of achieving excellence in advanced technological fields.
