Second T20I to Proceed with National Mourning Observance

MIRPUR: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced that the second T20I match between Bangladesh and Pakistan will still be held on Tuesday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka. The game will be played while observing National Mourning Day.

This decision comes after Monday’s unfortunate event, where a Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft crashed into a school and college grounds in Dhaka, resulting in at least 20 fatalities and 171 injuries.

According to the military’s statement, the accident occurred shortly after takeoff due to a technical fault.

The day will be dedicated to honoring the victims of the Milestone air crash. The BCB has scheduled multiple tributes to remember those who died.

As a mark of respect, the national flag will be flown at half-mast at the stadium and across all BCB locations. Furthermore, special prayers will take place to commemorate the victims.

A moment of silence will be observed before the match commences. Players and officials will wear black armbands. To maintain a respectful and somber environment, no music will be played during the game.

It is important to note that the home team is currently ahead in the three-match T20I series 1-0, following their dominant performance in the first match on Sunday.

The Bengal Tigers managed to bowl out Pakistan for 110 and successfully chased the target, largely due to a match-winning half-century by Parvez Hossain Emon.

The series’ third and final match is set to be played at the same venue on July 24.
