Manchester United Pursues Striker Options and Finalizes Mbeumo Deal
Manchester United has reportedly engaged with Randal Kolo Muani, as Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) considered selling the French forward. Simultaneously, an agreement exceeding £70 million ($94 million) has been reached with Brentford for Bryan Mbeumo, according to various international news outlets on Sunday.
Reports indicate that both Manchester United and Aston Villa have made contact with Kolo Muani, who has three years remaining on his current contract.
It is suggested that Aston Villa may accelerate their efforts to acquire the French player if Ollie Watkins is sold, as the English striker has been linked with a move to the Red Devils.
Newcastle United is also reportedly in contention, amidst discussions surrounding Alexander Isak’s potential transfer; however, their immediate priority is Yoane Wissa from Brentford.
Despite interest from other clubs, sources suggest that Old Trafford could be the most probable destination for Kolo Muani.
According to French media, Kolo Muani has emerged as the primary target for Ruben Amorim’s team following his return to PSG from a loan stint at Juventus.
In parallel, reports indicate that Manchester United has settled on a deal worth over £70 million ($94 million) with Brentford for Bryan Mbeumo. It’s understood that the Cameroonian international has completed his medical examinations and agreed to personal terms before a proposed move to Old Trafford.
The official announcement is anticipated either Sunday or Monday, as Manchester United is scheduled to depart for the United States on Tuesday for a series of three pre-season matches.
The Cameroon international is poised to become Ruben Amorim’s third acquisition of the summer transfer window, following the additions of forward Matheus Cunha from Wolves and left-back Diego Leon.
Mbeumo, who initially joined Brentford from Troyes in 2019, is set to become Brentford’s most significant sale to date.
The 25-year-old garnered attention last season due to his impressive attacking performances, netting 20 Premier League goals. Several clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur, expressed interest in him; however, Bryan Mbeumo has reportedly chosen to join Manchester United.
